Dry Pappad Tadka

Note: Dry Pappad Tadka is a North Indian Dish made with roasted pappad.

Pappad: 10 numbers

Onion: 2 number (medium)

Garlic: 2 pods

Black pepper powder: ½ teaspoon (optional)

Red chilly powder: 1 teaspoon

Coriander powder: ½ teaspoon

Turmeric: ½ teaspoon

Curry leaves: few

Mustard: ½ teaspoon

Salt: a pinch

Oil: 2 tablespoon


Roast pappad on both sides on high flame.

Heat pan & splutter mustard. Add chopped onions & crushed garlic & sauté well till onions are golden brown in colour.

Add chilly, coriander, turmeric powder & sauté well. To this add crushed pappad & curry leaves & sauté well. Add little water & close with lid.

Cook till water evaporates & oil becomes transparent from sides.

Take off lid & cook for 5 minutes.

Serve hot with chapatti’s.
