Ingredients

Arhar dal/Sambar dal: ½ cup

Potato: 1 number

Drumstick: 1 number

Lady’s finger: 2 numbers

Brinjal: 1 number

Carrot: 1 number

Beans: 2 – 3 numbers

Yam: ½ cup

Onion: 1 number (medium)

Green chilli: 1 number

Tomato: 1 number

Garlic: 2 – 3 flakes

Ginger: 1 small piece

Asafoetida powder: ¼ teaspoon

Methi powder: ¼ tsp

Tamarind: small lemon size

Mustard seeds: 1 teaspoon

Chilli Powder: 2 teaspoon

Coriander Powder: 3 teaspoon

Turmeric Powder: ½ teaspoon

Shallots: 2 – 3 numbers

Oil: 2 tbsp

Curry leaves: 2 strings

Salt: as required


Method

Cook arhar dal with vegetables in cooker with Tamarind &  water. (3 whistles)

Heat oil in pan.

Add coriander, chilli, turmeric powder, salt & sauté well in a thick paste form.

Add above paste to cooked vegetables & sauté well.

Add curry leaves to it & cook for 1 whistle.

Add asafetida & methi powder to it.

Heat oil in a pan, add mustard when it splutters add chopped shallots to it & sauté till golden brown.  Add this to sambar & boil.

When boil comes off flame & serve.

Can be served with dosa, idli or rice.
