Fish Curry – Kerala Style

Fish: 1 Kilo gram

Garlic: 1 tablespoon

Ginger: 1 tablespoon

Coriander Powder: 1 tablespoon

Red Chilly powder: 2 tablespoon

Turmeric: 1 teaspoon

Fish Tamarind: 3 pieces

Mustard: ½ teaspoon

Fenugreek Powder: 1 teaspoon

Oil/ Coconut Oil: 4 tablespoon

Curry Leaves: 2 strings

Salt: as required


Cut fish into pieces & wash thoroughly.

Soak fish tamarind in water with little salt.

Heat oil in pan, add mustard.

When it splutters add coriander, turmeric, red chilly powder & salt. Saute well.

Add little water & make paste. Put this paste above fish, & add fish tamarind & required water.  ( water level should be above fish).

Put curry leaves above it & close with lid.

Put this on flame, when boil comes add fenugreek powder into it. Check salt & add if required.

Cook on medium flame till fish is cooked nicely.

When fish is cooked, off flame & add 1 tablespoon of coconut oil above it.

Keep for 15 minutes & serve.
